Resin |
Resin, a clear to translucent yellow or brown, solid or semisolid, viscous substance produced by decomposed oil should be a sign of concern.
Resin is formed when the oil is exposed, locally or over a large area, to temperatures in the region of 350 C or above. The oil thermally oxidises and resin is formed as small partially degraded carbon-based paricles.
A CJC cellulose oil filter insert has a strong affinity for adsorbing small carbonaceous resin particles. Even submicron size resin particles will be adsorbed on the surfaces of the cellulosic fibres.
