A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLICATION AREA
One of the biggest production facilities in the industry, is the steel/aluminium production. Receiving the raw material, making the steel/aluminium, and then roll them up in very thin plates or just in big bars, takes a lot of time and space.
All over the world, a lot of the plants, have produced for many years. Old systems and highly contaminated enviroments are some of the problems for oil system in the steel/aluminium production. But also problems with cooling water, getting into the oil.
The applications are many, to mention some; Hydraulic system on the cranes, in the strip hal or the roll force system in the Cold Rolling Mill. Gear boxes on conveyers belt or in Steel Rolling Mill, Centrale lubeoil systems for the Rolling Mill. Furthermore we have other places like steam turbines, ovens with phosphate ester, and transformers, just to mention some.

THE TYPICAL PROBLEM CONCERNING THIS APPLICATION AREA
Since the applications are many, we can only say, that any problem can accure in the steel plant. Water is an big enemy for any oil system, and since water in used a lot, to cool, in the production process, water is often a big problem. Depending on the application, the water will be seen as well as free water as emulsion.
Particles are also a very big problem for oil system, contamination generated in the system or coming from the surroundings, all causing problems in the oil system. And because of the very high temperaturs used in the production, some oils will oxidate very quick. Therefore resin formation will accure in a lot of the oil systems.

OIL TYPES
With a width range of applications, the steel plant off course have a width range of oils. Low viscocity fuel oil to very high vicsocity lube/gear oil. Mineral, as well as synthetic oil, going normally up to ISO VG 460. The most used oil is hydraulic ISO VG 32, 46, 68. Gear oil ISO VG 220, and lube oil ISO VG 68 for turbines, app. ISO VG 220-320 for centrale lube oil system.
Furthermore special fluids like phosphate ester as fire residents. Also Water Glycol, quenching oil, wash oil are some of the special oils used. And transformer oil used in the transformer
