The ISO 4406 code specifies either two or
three size ranges for particles. Either one looks at 5 and 15
micron particles or 2, 5 and 15 micron particles. The ISO code number
refers to the number of particles per 1 ml of oil in larger than each
size range. The ISO Code is written with a backslash between the
numbers (e.g. 14/12/7), with the >5 (or >2) micron scale number
first.
